New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday conceded defeat in the Bihar elections.

“BJP lost only because of alliance arithmetic,” union minister Prakash Javadekar told the media.

BJP vice president Prabhat Jha added: “We failed to understand people's mind. We will have to change our election strategy.”

We had already predicted this.It is a defeat for BJP and Mr.Modi, JDU leader Pawan Verma told media persons.

Trends of the 191 seats available on the Election Commission website showed BJP ahead in 53, RJD leading in 55 seats each, Janta Dal United in 52, Congress in 10 and Jitan Ram Manjhi's Hindustan Awam Morcha in three seats.
