New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah will today launch party's plan to hold 200-odd big rallies to mark the first anniversary of its government at the Centre.
Shah will address the media at the BJP headquarters in Delhi before heading to Karnal to address a rally where he will highlight the achievements of the Narendra Modi government in last one year.
The series of rallies, besides 5,000 public meetings across the country, are being organised as part of the 'Jan Kalyan Parv' celebrations planned by BJP to mark the Modi government's one year in office.
Shah will visit Gujarat on May 27 and will thereafter also travel to Goa, where he will address a public rally as well the media on May 28.
Yesterday, Modi addressed a rally at Nagla Chandra Bhan village, the ancestral village of Bharatiya Jan Sangh ideologue Deen Dayal Upadhyay, to mark the first anniversary of his government.
He made veiled attacks at the Congress over its repeated criticism of his government as "pro-corporate" and "anti-poor". Modi said that BJP-led NDA government is 'pro-poor' as it brought 'achche din (good days)' to people but "bure din (bad days)" to those who had "looted" the nation.
The BJP has planned around 200 rallies, 200 press conferences and 5,000 public meetings across the country to highlight government's achievements. It has issued two slogans 'Varsh Ek Kaam Anek' and 'Modi Sarkaar Kaam Lagataar' which will be used during the celebrations to commemorate the completion its first year in office.
The BJP, under the leadership of Modi, stormed to power on its own in May last year after it successfully managed to bag 282 seats in 545-member House. With its allies, the saffron party enjoys a brute majority of 335 in the Lower House.
Modi took over as the Prime Minister of India on May 26, 2014.
