Lucknow: Taking the ongoing war of words with Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik to another level, state minister Azam Khan today said he would meet President Pranab Mukherjee over the issue.

“Why is the Governor so angry with me for writing a letter to him... is there any constitutional binding against it... even during the British era there was no such rule,” he claimed.

“I will meet the President over the issue,” Khan said.  In a recent four-page letter, the controversial minister had accused the Governor of having a “continued negative” approach against him and making “politically motivated” statements on the vexed Ayodhya issue.  Khan said that Naik's “negative attitude” towards him has created fear among the Muslims and he was also receiving threats.

On the letter written by Azam to him, Naik yesterday said, “When he has released it in media and made it public, I have nothing to say.”

On the boycott of the BJP in the joint address of the UP legislature by the Governor, Khan said it was an “insult” to the Governor by the BJP.

Khan also alleged that BJP and RSS have not changed their ideologies even after drubbing in Delhi polls and recent statements by its top leadership are only meant to “misguide people”.

“BJP and RSS have not changed their ideologies even after the defeat in Delhi polls. The statement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on churches and RSS chief's comment saying that women are not machines to bear children, are part of a strategy to mislead the people,” the controversial SP leader said.

“These parties continue to indulge in divisive politics,” he alleged.
