New Delhi: Senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan has said he condemned all terror attacks, "whether Mumbai or Paris", but he added that the reprisal attacks in Syria were also causing the "death of many innocent people."

Replying to questions from Rajat Sharma in his show Aaj Ki Baat on India TV last night, Azam Khan said: "The remark (every action has a reaction) was wrongly attributed to me by the media...I never said that...even Gandhiji had said that there is always a reaction to any action of injustice. This is not Azam Khan's, but Bapu's remark."

Azam Khan lashed out at US President Barack Obama saying that he was issuing a threat to Muslims of the world.

"In the name of war, he is trying to project the second largest population of the world as terrorists..What Obama said today (at G20 sumit) should sound a note of warning to the whole world. He has issued a threat to all the Muslims of the world, and Muslims should be concerned over this, because he has pointed finger at Muslim youths, saying they could become terrorists. This remark does not behove the head of a superpower."

The UP minister added: "Tell me, with your hand on your heart, is it not true (that the US is issuing threat)? Do you want us to cringe before the US out of fear? Has not the US brought the whole world to the brink of war? People who are behind me do say that I am speaking the truth."

Azam Khan said: "The reprisal attacks on (IS positions in) Syria soon after the Paris attacks, can you justify them? Are not those killed in the attacks (in Syria) innocent people?"

He said: "I am against terrorism, whether in Mumbai, or Paris, but we should also condemn the killing of innocent people elsewhere too."

The SP leader pointed out that even Prime Minister Narendra Modi, when he was chief minister of Gujarat, had said, every action has a reaction, while referring to 2002 Gujarat riots.
