New Delhi: After BJP's humiliating defeat in Delhi polls, senior BJP leader from Bihar Kirti Azad today said that “heads must roll” and demanded that stern action should be taken against those responsible for the “negative” campaign in Delhi.

The cricketer-turned-politician defended Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying his good and positive campaign would have resulted in a better show for the party in Delhi.

“Heads must roll...I request the Prime Minister and party president to look into who is responsible in Delhi. The rot in the system needs to be cleared in Delhi. Who is responsible that the BJP is out of power for over 15 years and it will be so for 20 years now,” Azad told PTI.

He wondered how the Prime Minister's positive agenda of development and good governance turned negative in Delhi polls and the party leaders went on an all-out offensive against AAP in a smearing negative campaign.

“You should respect your opponents. You have to sit together and face each other sitting opposite to each other in the Assembly. Everything was going well for BJP under the positive agenda. Then why such a negative campaign,” he said.

He said had the positive campaign of Modi stayed, this would not have been the fate of BJP in Delhi.  “Had the ‘poorvaiyyas' and the ‘maithalis' been given party tickets, it could have been different,” he said.

Azad, who hails from Bihar where the party is seeking to wrest power from JD(U) and is son of former Chief Minister Bhagwat Jha Azad, said he, like many other party workers, are asking questions as to why this has happened and whosoever responsible should be dealt with sternly.
