3. Rajiv Gandhi:
Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated on his campaign trip to Sriperumbudur, near Chennai on May 20, 1990. He was killed by a suicide bomber called Thenmozhi Rajaratnam a.k.a Dhanu. The attack was planned and executed by LTTE. The militant Sri Lankan Ramil outfit had vowed to take revenge after Rajiv's government sent the Indian Peace Keeping Force to fight LTTE militants in Sri Lanka. Following his death, a state funeral was held in Delhi in 1991. The LTTE intelligence chief who planned the suicide bombing was killed in a shootout in Bangalore later.
