New Delhi: Former Union Minister and Congress candidate has won from Patiala assembly seat. She defeated her rival Bhagwan Dass Juneja of the ruling Akali Dal by over 23,000 votes.
Preneet is the wife of Punjab's former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh.
She has been repeatedly contesting from Patiala constituency. Preneet won the elections of 1999, 2004 and 2009 but lost her seat in 2014 elections. Preneet Kaur served as a Minister of State in the Ministry of External Affairs from 2009 – 2014.
Before entering politics, Preneet had founded an institution in Patiala for differently abled children – Sanjeevani.
In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Kaur was defeated by AAP candidate Dharamvir Gandhi from Patiala constituency by 20,942 votes.
