Kejriwal predicts, AAP govt in Delhi will take oath on Dec 15

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal has almost chalked out his December schedule assuming that his party would be swept to power in the Dec 4 Delhi assembly elections. Kejriwal told Rajat Sharma's Aap Ki Adalat show on India TV: "On December 4, Delhi will go to polls, on December 8, results will be out and our party will win, on December 15, AAP governmet will take oath, and on December 29, we will hold a special session of Delhi Assembly at Ramlila Maidan to pass the Jan Lokpal bill"."We will pass the same bill for which Anna Hazare sat on a 13-day fast at Ramlila Maidan", said Kejriwal, adding, "of course, it would be a Lokayukta for Delhi."Kejriwal faced tough questions raised by Rajat Sharma, about charges of corruption and criminal activity against some of the AAP candidates. Kejriwal defended some of his candidates, including Desraj Raghav, AAP candidate from Uttam Nagar, saying there were no credible evidences of corruption or criminal charge against them. Replying to the charge that Desraj Raghav owned 20 ration shops, Kejriwal said: "If a single ration shop is found to be owned by Desraj, his ticket would be cancelled within an hour. According to our information, out of 8 rations shops, there is not a single shop in his name."Rajat Sharma raised the question of the brother of an AAP candidate from Karol Bagh, Chakit Ravi, against whom a case of kidnapping was filed on August 26. Kejriwal sidestepped the question.Kejriwal admitted that out of the 70 AAP candidates in Delhi, eight were previously in BJP and seven in Congress. "These leaders were finding themselves suffocated BJP and Congress, as they are being run by mafia", said the AAP leader. On Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi's stand leading to withdrawal of ordinance protecting convicted legislators, Kejriwal said: "On Tuesday, the cabinet approves the ordinance. Manmohan Singh alone does not have the courage to do so himself. It is sent to the President, and within 3 days, it is withdrawn. They themselves draft the ordinance, and themselves tore it up. Do they think the people of this country are fools?"On Rahul Gandhi's promise to bring about changes in the system, Kejriwal said: "The Congress has been in power for the last 10 years. They could have changed the country, but in the last 10 years, they looted this country."Asked why Anna Hazare was not with him, Kejriwal said, "Anna thinks politics is dirty and muddy. We said, we want to change the system from inside. Rajneeti (politics) is a good word by itself. Men like Patel, Nehru left everything to join politics, but today 'rajneeti' is mere 'dalaali' (brokering)".'I was a commissioner in Income Tax. An ordinary IT inspector normally makes Rs 1 crore in a year. As Commissioner, I could have made crores and travel in a car fitted with beaconlight. But I left service, and decided to serve the nation', said Kejriwal."The government deployed all its investigative agencies against us, but found nothing incriminating. We got the charges against Prashant Bhushan investigated by retired Admiral Ramdas. He too did not find anything incriminating", said the AAP leader. About his roadmap for Delhi, Kejriwal said, if elected to power, his first priority would be to enact the Jan Lokpal Bill, lower the power tariff, provide cheap drinking water, with 700 litres of water free to each household, and put corrupt officials and politicians behind bars. On women safety, Kejriwal said, 20-25 commandos will be appointed in each 'mohalla' (locality) and the criminal justice system will be revamped.Aap Ki Adalat with Arvind Kejriwal will be telecast on Saturday (Oct 12 ) at 10 pm and on Sunday (Oct 13) at 10 am and 10 pm on India TV.
