arun jaitley indirectly targets kirti azad says mp met sonia gandhi to fix him

New Delhi: In a veiled attack on his fellow party member and his known detractor Kirti Azad , Union Minister Finanace Arun Jaitley has accused the BJP MP from Darbhanga of targetting him in collusion with Congress leadership.

"One member of Parliament wrote to the Congress government, he met Sonia Gandhi. He met Sonia Gandhi and they said we will fix Jaitley," Jaitley told Times of India without naming Azad.

Jaitley's allusion to Azad was obvious as AAP and Congress have been targetting the munion minister by quoting his own party colleague.

"So they referred it to the Serious Frauds Office (SFIO). In 2013, the SFIO gave a report saying there are procedural irregularities in the company, no case of fraud is made out. And in any case (there are) members responsible for those procedural lapses. These are compoundable deviations and as far as Jaitley is concerned, he is not responsible. The whole issue ended," TOI quoted jaitley as saying.

Jaitley also dismissed the AAP charge that his family members were involved in a sports firm that got contracts from the DDCA saying "I have no family member who has even a one paise interest in any form of business," he said.

Azad is also scheduled to hold a press conference on Sunday to reveal details of irregularities DDCA.

The lawmaker from Bihar also appeared to be taking a dig at Jaitley over his reported description of him as a "Trojan horse". "Not a Trojan horse but Achilles heel; wait till I unmask the 'behroopiya' (impostor)," Mr Azad said in a tweet.

"Will expose biggest DDCA corruption with audio-visual tomorrow at 4 P M," he said in another tweet and quoted a poem of BJP stalwart Atal Bihari Vajpayee to suggest that he will carry on and not "concede" defeat.

BJP chief Amit Shah had called Mr Azad yesterday to impress upon him that he should not go ahead with his charges at a time when opposition parties, especially Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), have gone after Mr Jaitley over the alleged corruption in DDCA when he headed the cricket body.

Mr Azad had, however, later reiterated his decision of holding a press conference on Sunday. The three-time lawmaker has been a known detractor of Mr Jaitley over his stewardship of DDCA.
