Meerut: In a small hamlet named Jani Khurd adjoining Meerut, tea vendors on Friday held a meeting to express their anger over an SP leader's remark that a tea vendor can never become Prime Minister.
The tea vendors unanimously decided to give Re 1 discount on each cup of tea to customers who promise not to vote for Samajwadi Party.
The meeting was presided over by Rajbir Singh and was attended by Papneet, Rajkumar, Rahul, Aamir, Bhushan, Babloo and Pawan, all tea sellers.
SP leader Naresh Agrawal had remarked on Wednesday that a tea vendor like Narendra Modi can never become PM. He retracted his remark the next day claiming he was misquoted, but his remark has already got the goat of all tea vendors throughout the country.
On Friday, Narendra Modi at a rally in Chhattisgarh told voters that a tea seller was far better than those who sell out the nation. Modi said, such a mentality amounts to insulting the poor people.
