Allies raise drought, fuel subsidy issues at UPA co-ordination meeting

New Delhi, Aug 8: Leaders of alliance partners in the United Progressive Alliance today raised the issues of fuel subsidy, drought, investment climate, etc at the coordination committee meeting, in which the Trinamool Congress representative was absent .






Briefing mediapersons, Finance Minister P Chidambaram said that NCP supremo Sharad Pawar raised the drought issue at the meeting held at the PM's residence.

Trinamool congress leader Sudip Bandopadhyay was supposed to attend the meeting, but because of a communication gap, he did not attend the meeting though he was present in Delhi.

Sources said, Mamata Banerjee will now be attending the coordination committee meeting regularly, which will be held on the last Friday of every month.

In future meetings of the coordination committee, DMK supremo M Karunanidhi will also be invited, sources said.
