New Delhi: Elated AIADMK members today flashed victory sign in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha soon after the party's leader J Jayalalithaa was acquitted in the disproportionate assets case.
In a huge relief for Jayalalithaa, she was today acquitted by the Karnataka High Court in the disproportionate assets case, which could enable her stage a political comeback and return to the Chief Minister's post.
As the Lok Sabha was discussing the introduction of the new Land Bill, smiling AIADMK members entered the House and flashed victory sign while some of them were heard saying ‘Amma success'.
TMC leader Saugata Roy, who was speaking at that time, said it was “good news” for the members and congratulated them.
Jayalalithaa is fondly addressed as ‘Amma' by her followers and party MPs refer to her as ‘Puratchithalaivi Amma (Revolutionary Leader Amma)'.
After spending a few minutes in the House, AIADMK members went out and returned after sometime.
In the Rajya Sabha, Leader of AIADMK in the House A Navneethakrishnan flashed the victory sign amid the bedlam in the House over Gadkari issue.
It happened soon after the House was adjourned for the first time during Question Hour as the Opposition stepped up attack against Gadkari rejecting his reply and seeking his “dimissal” on the CAG reporting irregularities in loan extended to his family-linked Purti Group.
Navneethakrishnan and other AIADMK members expressed joy sharing the news about their leader's acquital.
The AIADMK member also walked up to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and chatted with them for a while.
Members from some other Opposition parties also shook hands with the smiling AIADMK members.
