Lucknow, Jan 17: A day after Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav rapped the Uttar Pradesh government run by son Akhilesh Yadav for giving plum posts to select bureaucrats, the chief minister rejigged some top posts Wednesday.

Anil Kumar Gupta, the industrial and infrastructure development commissioner, who was also holding charge as principal secretary, energy, and chairman of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd, and principal secretary, information technology and electronics, was shunted out.

He has been posted as a member of the state revenue board, a position seen as a dumping ground for officers who have lost favour. Gupta was considered a powerful official.

Rajiv Kapoor, principal secretary, technical education, has been given additional charge of the posts Gupta held.

Noida's Chief executive Officer Sanjeev Saran, who was in the legal cross hairs after the Allahabad High Court sought his removal on charges of graft, has been transferred and put on the waiting list.

Rama Raman, the chief executive officer of Greater Noida, has been given additional charge of Noida.

Sanjeev Kumar Mittal, the Lucknow divisional commissioner and principal secretary, information, has also been transferred and appointed principal secretary, power, and chairman of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd.

Bureaucracy is agog with rumours of more impending transfers with a major overhaul of the administration.
