New Delhi: Former Aam Aadmi Party MLA Vinod Kumar Binny today joined the BJP, ahead of the Assembly polls in Delhi.
Binny is the third former associate of Arvind Kejriwal who joined the BJP. On Friday, after Kiran Bedi, former AAP leader Shazia Ilmi also joined the saffron party.
Yesterday, Binny met Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay and it was speculated that he may join the party today.
Few days ago, Binny had said that he has raised some questions, including reducing of power tariff by 30 per cent, and if he got answers of his questions, he would “definitely” join the BJP.
"Had joined AAP but, at the time, didn't know all that was mere drama. AAP is responsible for emotional blackmailing. They use people... I thank the BJP for giving me this honor," said Mr Binny.
"Binny has been actively involved. He was part of Anna's (Hazare) andolan. Binny was the first to raise voice against the undemocratic way in which AAP functioned," said Mr Upadhyay.
Mr Binny, a former MLA from Laxmi Nagar, had quit the Aam Aadmi Party last year.
Delhi goes to polls on February 7; votes will be counted on February 10.
The BJP has not announced its candidates so far whereas AAP and Congress have already announced their all candidates.
