New Delhi: Narendra Modi's Independence Day speech,  which was a strong attack aimed at Manmohan Singh led UPA government,  not only brought out strong criticism from the opposition but also seemed to  annoy his own

India TV News Desk Updated on: August 15, 2013 15:10 IST

Modi, who is widely expected to be named the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s prime ministerial candidate for the 2014 general election, earlier in Bhuj, claimed that when Manmohan Singh unfurls the tricolour there on 15th "the message will also go to Lal Qila. The nation will want to know what was said there and what is said here (in Bhuj)."

He said  "On one hand, there will be a series of promises, while on the other there will be the account of work done. On one side, there will be despair (nirasha) and on the other there will be hope (asha)," he said, without directly naming the prime minister.''

NDA ally Shiv Sena also came in support of Advani.

Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut  while criticizing Modi's speech said ``the whole country listens to the Prime Minister on Independence Day. It is the day of patience and endurance.''
