New Delhi: A section of AAP workers today raised concerns over "disconnect" between its legislators and volunteers, saying this could affect party's prospects in the MCD polls.

Aam Aadami Party's Delhi unit leaders, in a meeting with party volunteers from West Delhi particularly from Janakpuri, were also apprised about the anti-incumbency factor, which BJP is allegedly facing in many wards of the municipal corporation.

The meeting, held yesterday, was presided over by senior leaders of AAP's Delhi unit.

"There is a lot of disconnect between legislators and party volunteers. It is important to bridge the gap and give volunteers their due respect," a volunteer said.

Another volunteer demanded better coordination between the party workers, who are the face of the organisation in different wards, mohallas and at the booth-level.

"There should be periodic meeting between MLAs and party volunteers. The developmental work proposed by the party workers should be done in a time-bound manner. This is how we can show our work to the people ahead of the MCD polls," another volunteer added.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had yesterday exuded confidence over winning MCD polls.

One volunteer, who had unsuccessfully contested MCD election, also suggested that the party should work to exploit the anti-incumbency factor, referring to the "unsatisfactory work" done by a Delhi BJP leader in his ward.

2017 will be a crucial year for AAP. The party aims to wrest the MCD polls from BJP.
