New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi has spent Rs 23 lakh 65 thousand on advertisements in newspapers and a television channel to target Centre after it alleged scam in onion procurement by the city government

Yesterday, the AAP government got advertisements published in several leading newspapers attacking the Centre for 'wrongly' targeting the Kejriwal government over scam in onion procurement.

The government, in the advertisements, argued that they bought onion for Rs 33 per kg and after overhead charges, it paid Rs 40 for per kg. It reiterated government's claim that it sold onions to people at Rs 30 per kg and thus provided Rs 10 subsidy.

The advertisements, besides accusing a television channel of conspiring to malign government's image, alleged that the Centre betrayed Delhiites by procuring onion at Rs 18 per kg direct from farmers and selling it for Rs 35-40 through its agencies.

Yesterday only, the city government drew flak from all quarters over misuse of public money on publishing full-page advertisements in all leading newspapers to repeat its claim.

People took to Twitter to express their disappointment on such advertisements instead of controlling dengue.

When Aam Aadmi Party was approached seeking clarification on spending huge amount on advertisements, the party said that government has the right to reach to the public.
