Attacking the BJP over its plans to re-induct former Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, the AAP leader said “this proves that BJP is no different from the Congress when it comes to taking a stand against corruption”.  He said people of the state were joining AAP “in numbers far exceeding our expectations”.

Singh also said that the party was looking forward to its upcoming rally on January 12 in Amethi, a bastion of the Nehru-Gandhi family, “where people do not have access to basic amenities despite having been represented by one political bigwig after the other over past many years”.  Singh said the party intends to reach out to voters with “a clean alternative, wherein there would be no compromise on the candidates' criminal background, charges of corruption or any blemishes on personal character”.

The AAP leader was here to extend the party's support to an ongoing students' agitation against alleged corruption in the UP Public Service Commission.

The agitators have been demanding a CBI inquiry into the alleged irregularities, besides removal of the Commission's Chairman and Secretary.

“We are shocked to see that far from paying heed to the students' legitimate demands, the SP government appears adamant on repressing a democratic movement against corruption.

“Similar instances can be seen elsewhere in the state which is witnessing political parties' cynical attitude towards corruption and a tendency to play the communal card for electoral gains,” Singh said.
