Mohali: Aam Aadmi Party MP from Sangrur Bhagwant Mann and his wife Inderpreet Kaur filed for divorce in a local court in Mohali on Friday. The court has given the couple six months to take a final call on the matter. The next hearing has been fixed for October 1.
The application was filed under Section 13-B of the Hindu Marriage Act for divorce with mutual consent. The couple went together to the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Parminder Pal Singh and signed the divorce papers with the same pen.
The AAP MP Mann lives in Sangrur while Inderpreet stays in California (US). They have a 10-year-old son and a 14-year-old daughter, who are staying with Inderjeet in the US.
Talking to media persons, Mann said being the elected representative of the public from Sangrur, he could not settle in the US, while his wife could not shift to India to live with him, so they had both sought divorce.
The couple has a son and a daughter, both of whom stay with their mother in California most of the time. Mann lives in Delhi and Mohali.
