New Delhi: Delhi Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra today said that the AAP government will set up 'Knowledge Centre' in national capital in the memory of former President A P J Abdul Kalam.

The government's move comes a few days after Kalam's elder brother A P J M Maraikayar urged Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to set up 'Kalam National Centre for Knowledge Discovery' in the capital.

Mishra said that Delhi government has decided to bring Dr Kalam's legacy, books and possessions to New Delhi.

"As per the family's request, the Delhi government is ready to bring back all of Dr Kalam's books and possessions that were sent away from his 10, Rajaji Marg residence in Delhi," he said.

The Minister also said that this will first begin by an exhibition at Delhi Haat INA with a creative presentation of his memories and heritage and this will be a temporary home for the public to visit one of the country's most loveable Presidents.

"We will build 'Knowledge Centre' in the national capital in APJ Abdul Kalam's memory. Developing a Knowledge Centre will take some time and in the meantime, we have also decided that all the Kalam's belongings will be exhibited at Delhi Haat INA with a creative presentation of his memories and heritage," Mishra said here.

Mishra, who is also the water minister, said that the government team will soon visit Kalam's family in Rameshwaram and gather details about the former President of India.

A three-member committee has also been set up to facilitate this transfer of Dr Kalam's memories to its rightful place.

"May we request that Government of New Delhi, under your able leadership, may set up 'Kalam National Centre for Knowledge Discovery' in New Delhi," Maraikayar had said in his letter to Kejriwal.
