New Delhi: Hitting back at AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal for his comments that the party would not let BJP form the government in Delhi at any cost, the saffron outfit today claimed these remarks reflect his “desperation” and accused him of not believing in the Constitution.

“Kejriwal's statement shows only his desperation. BJP is not going to form the government in the national capital via the back door.

Instead AAP is adopting such tactics and meeting with Independent MLAs as they are greedy for power and don't believe in the Indian constitution,” Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay told reporters here.

Earlier, Kejriwal said AAP was in contact with Congress, JD(U) and some “honest” BJP legislators to prevent the saffron party from coming to power in Delhi through “illegal means”.

The escalation of the war of words between the two parties comes a day after AAP released a video of a purported sting operation showing Delhi BJP Vice President Sher Singh Dagar offering Rs 4 crore to an AAP MLA to switch sides.

Upadhyay said, “Before Lok Sabha elections, Kejriwal had claimed they wouldn't let Narendra Modi become Prime Minister.

Let's ask him if he could stop Modi from becoming PM. Such statements are meaningless and are just misleading the people of Delhi.

“From day one, BJP's stand has been very clear. If the L-G invites us to form the government, we will analyse all options and go only as per the Constitution.

“After elections... when they (AAP) formed the government, why did they run away from their responsibility?” Upadhyay said.

“They (AAP) are just doing this because they want to stay in the news,” the Delhi BJP chief added.  At a press conference today, Kejriwal said, “I want to make it very clear that AAP is in touch with all the parties ... with (Independent MLA from Mundka) Rambeer Shokeen, (JD-U MLA) Shoaib Iqbal, (expelled AAP MLA Vinod Kumar) Binny, Congress and even some honest MLAs from the BJP.

“By saying this we make it clear that we are not aiming to form the government, but we want to stop BJP from forming the government through dishonest means. We are in favour of elections,” Kejriwal said.
