New Delhi: After a historical win in Delhi Assembly Elections, the Aam Aadmi Party is moving forward to build its support base in other states.  Senior AAP leader Yogendra Yadav held a meeting in Chandigarh on Sunday to build a strong organizational structure and to chalk out an action plan for future.

The meeting was also attended by Haryana AAP leaders like Ashwant Gupta and Anupam Singh and it was decided to open a party office in Chandigarh.

At the oath taking ceremony on February 14, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal called the statements by the senior leaders talking about expansion in other states as arrogance. However, the meeting in Haryana cannot be called as expansion plan because the elections there are still five years away.

The AAP had contested the Lok Sabha elections last year in the state but failed to make any impact. Yogendra Yadav himself contested from Gurgaon and lost the election. Keeping in mind the Lok Sabha debacle, the party decided against contesting the assembly elections held in October.

Anupam Singh said that state office-bearers and party functionaries from 18 out of 21 districts attended the brain-storming session. The active participation of volunteers from Haryana in the Delhi elections was also appreciated in the meeting.

Key issues affecting the people of Haryana were also discussed in the meeting. Land Acquisition Ordinance, the faulty urea fertiliser system, minimum support price for grains, implementation of Swaminathan commission report, mis-governance, law and order situation, and quality of education in Haryana were at the centre of the discussion.

Mr Singh said that ways and means of connecting and reaching out to the masses were also discussed. The meeting was more about the organisation and to tap into the new-found energy, said Singh.
