Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today said that a resolution to the Ram Mandir dispute will be arrived at through a dialogue and that the state government will support efforts by the two communities to this effect.
Adityanath is only the second UP CM to ever offer prayers at the Ram Lalla temple after the demolition of the mosque on December 6, 1992. No Chief Minister had ever visited the site after Rajnath Singh offered prayers at the makeshift temple in 2002.
“If the two communities manage to come to an agreement on the dispute over the Ram Janmabhoomi dispute in Ayodhya through talks, the government is there for you,” Yogi Adityanath said today during his visit to Ayodhya.
“An appropriate opportunity for dialogue is here. The Supreme Court has made an appeal (for resolution through dialogue) and we begin a fresh attempt keeping it in mind,” the CM added, referring to the top court’s observations with regard to the Ayodhya dispute.
He further said that there were some elements in society who did not wish to see that people in India stay united and live in peace and harmony.
The Chief Minister's visit comes a day after a Special CBI court in Lucknow framed charges against senior BJP leaders in Babri Masjid demolition case.
On his first visit to the temple town after taking charge as the Chief Minister of India's most populous state, Adityanath promised a slew of measures for Ayodhya, including a Rs 350 crore package for the development of the temple town.
Initiatives announced by the CM for Ayodhya are LED street lights for the entire town, restoring the condition of temples and dharamshalas, a four-lane road from Ayodhya to Janakpur, improving the Panch Koshi and Chaudah Koshi routes, a daily aarti at the banks of Saryu river, among others.
Soon after landing in Ayodhya, Yogi proceeded to offer payers at the Hanumangarhi Temple, an important religious place in the town.
Yogi is in town to attend 'janmotsav' (birthday celebrations) of Ramjanmabhumi Nyas president Mahant Nritya Gopal Das. Besides this, he is also reviewing the development works and the law & order situation in the Faizabad-Ayodhya division.
After landing in Faizabad in the morning, Adityanath reached the Hanuman Garhi Temple and then visited Ram Lala. The Chief Minister also visited the ‘Ram Ki Pairi’ at the Saryu bank and interacted with BJP workers and office bearers at Awadh University.
The visit comes a day after BJP veterans L K Advani, M M Joshi, Union minister Uma Bharti and nine others will stand trial for criminal conspiracy in the 1992 Babri demolition case, with a special CBI court framing charges against them.
The trial under the serious criminal conspiracy charge will commence against them after having been dropped by the trial court in 2001. The verdict was upheld by the Allahabad High Court in 2010.
The charges were framed against Advani (89), Joshi (83), Bharti (58), BJP MP Vinay Katiyar (62), VHP's Vishnu Hari Dalmiya (89) and one-time Hindutva firebrand Sadhvi Rithambara (53) -- all of whom appeared before the court.
