After the humiliating defeat in just-concluded MCD polls, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today confessed that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) made mistakes and that it’s time for the party to take corrective measures instead of coming up with excuses.

“ In the last 2 days, I spoke to many volunteers and voters. The reality is obvious. Yes, we made mistakes but we’ll introspect and course correct,” Arvind Kejriwal said in a statement posted on his twitter-handle.

“ Time to go back to drawing board. To not evolve would be silly. We owe that to voters n volunteers. We owe that to ourselves,” he added.

For the  first time, Kejriwal  did not blame faulty Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for AAP’s defeat in successive elections.

Surprisingly, he went on to added that there was no point in offering excuses for party’s bad performance.

“ Need is action and not excuses. It’s time to get back to work. And even if we slip from time to time, the key is to find the reserves to hold and pull ourselves up. The people deserve nothing less. The only thing constant is change,” Kejriwal said.

Kejriwal’s public statement comes after another senior AAP leader Kumar Vishwas  told India TV on Friday that that the party’s poor show was not because of EVMs but because it had failed to live up to the aspirations of the people.

“I am not ruling out the possibility of EVMs being tampered with but I do not hold it responsible for the poll loss in Punjab and MCD. That would be extremely discouraging for the party workers and legislators. EVMs may be an issue but we did not lose elections because of EVMs. It is a fact that people did not vote for us and the leadership needs to take responsibility for it,” Kumar Vishwas said.
