Even as Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked his partymen to desist from referring to surgical strikes at public forums, Bharatiya Janata Party MP Manoj Tiwari, who was playing a character in Delhi's famous Luv-Kush Ramleela, used the term to praise Lord Hanuman.
Tiwari donned the role of Angad who goes to Ravana as a representative of Lord Rama. During their conversation, Ravana mentions Hanuman (a day before Lord Hanuman had burnt Lanka) to which Tiwari's character says, “wahi vaanar surgical strike wala”(are you talking about that monkey who carried out surgical strike), much to the delight of the crowd who responded with hoots and cheers to the reference.
Many social media users are also dubbing Hanuman's burning of Lanka as the world's first surgical strike.
India carried out surgical strikes on several terror launch pads along the Line of Control on seven terror launch pads in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) which caused “significant casualties” including two Pakistani soldiers. The strikes were conducted 10 days after the terrorist attack on an Army camp in Uri that left 18 soldiers dead.
