New Delhi: The Supreme Court today stayed the HC´s judgement on President’s rule in Uttarakhand after hearing the centre’s plea on the matter for more than an hour.
After the decision the President’s rule come into force in the state once again.
The case will come in front of the Apex court for hearing on 27th April.
The court observed that till the time final copy of the HC’s verdict was delivered the sacked Chief Minister Harish Rawat should have not started functioning and was not entitled to convene cabinet meeting.
The SC also directed HC to provide the copy of judgment passed on April 21 to the parties by April 26 which shall also be placed before the apex court.
The BJP-led central government suffered a setback on Thursday when the Uttarakhand High Court set aside President's Rule in the state, restoring status quo ante with Congress leader Harish Rawat as the chief minister.
Following the judgement Centre today has moved Supreme Court against the HC verdict which restored Harish Rawat as Chief Minister of the state.
The center told the apex court that the impugned judgement resulted in serious miscarriage of justice, deserves to be set aside and quashed by orders of this court.

The SC was told that gross injustice and irreparable loss likely to be caused to the petitioner if the impugned judgement of HC not stayed.
In the morning the AG Mukul Rohatagi told the court that they have filed an appeal without the HC judgement in hand as it was not declared and a speaking order was passed yesterday.
A bench headed by Justice Dipak Misra today asked AG to get consent of CJI T S Thakur for urgent hearing.
Rohatgi made an urgent mentioning before SC on Uttarakhand HC order, Lawyer Nalin Kohli told reporters.
The centre made a “special mention” of Rawat’s Congress government being in minority as the high court also upheld the suspension of the nine dissident MLAs.
Meanwhile, nine rebel Congress MLAs also file appeal against HC's decision barring them from participating in floor test.
Harish Rawat, who has been reinstated as Chief Minister, held a cabinet meeting last night, hours after his reinstatement.
The Uttarakhand High Court has said that Mr Rawat has to take a trust vote on April 29.
The government ‘s decision came after a meeting at the residence of BJP chief Amit Shah, which included home minister Rajnath Singh and finance minister Arun Jaitley.
