Om Prakash Rajbhar, president of the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party, has demanded implementation of 27 per cent reservation for the Other Backward Class (OBC) in Uttar Pradesh and given a 100-day ultimatum to the government.
An ally of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the state, Rajbhar said that if the government fails to pay attention then his party will think about some alternative.
It is pertinent to mention here that recently the Centre amended the Constitution to give 10 per cent quota to the economically weaker upper caste.
The bill is passed by both the houses of Parliament and is waiting for the President's approval.
