Union minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises and BJP leader Babul Supriyo will tie the knot for a second time in his life today.
Supriyo will be marrying Rachna Sharma who is as an airhostess by profession. The wedding is scheduled to take place at Hotel Ashoka in New Delhi at 7:30pm today.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee extended a helping hand to Babul Supriyo after his request for allotment of 14 rooms at “Bang Bhawan” in New Delhi was turned down by the officials. Supriyo had requested for these rooms so that his guests participating in the wedding could stay there.
Babul Supriyo was informed by officials that an MP can’t be allotted so many rooms. After that, Babul Supriyo sent a message to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee requesting her to help him in getting these rooms. He also offered to pay rent for these rooms.
Mamata Banerjee responded by saying that he will get these 14 rooms free of cost.
Mamata said that Babul does not need to pay the rent for these rooms and he should consider it as a “wedding gift” from her side.
This will be Babul Supriyo’s second marriage. His first marriage was with Riya that took place in 2005 although the couple decided to part ways in 2006.
A few days back, Babul Supriyo, in an interview to a Bangla newspaper, had disclosed how he proposed to Rachna Sharma.
Supriyo disclosed that when Baba Ramdev had offered him a BJP ticket for 2014 Lok Sabha elections when the two were travelling together on a plane, an airhostess was standing there who immediately quipped, “he will definitely win if he gets the ticket”.
The airhostess was none other than Rachna Sharma.
After that he fell in love with her. Interestingly, when Babul proposed to her for the first time, he did not get a positive response.
“After her refusal, I wrote a song every day and sent it to her for 40 consecutive days. After that, she noticed me and we dated for two years before deciding to tie the knot,” Babul Supriyo told the newspaper.
