An FIR was lodged against Union minister and Mirzapur MP Anupriya Patel for violating prohibitory orders near Vidhan Sabha after she led a cavalcade of over 200 four wheelers causing massive traffic jams in the state capital.
It was the first visit of Apna Dal MP to Lucknow after being appointed as minister and a big crowd gathered at Amausi airport on Saturday to welcome her. Cavalcade of more than 200 four-wheelers followed Patel all the way up to Hazratganj where Patel visited Ambedkar Mahasabha and a memorial erected for Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Hazratganj.
Normal life was thrown out of gear for two hours consequently as daily commuters and motorists had a tough time negotiating GPO crossing. It became difficult for people to negotiate the 400-metre long stretch as vehicles were parked haphazardly on the carriageways and supporters descended on the road leaving no space for vehicles to move towards GPO from Burlingtton crossing.
As no prior permission was taken by Patel from government, an FIR was lodged against Patel and others at Hazratganj police station under IPC sections 143 (unlawful assembly), 341 (wrongful restraint), 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), SHO Hazratganj, Vijaymal Yadav told reporters.
Section 144 under CrPC remains enforced around Vidhan Bhawan Marg to dissuade protestors from gathering opposite Vidhan Bhawan building. The support rally was organized without informing anybody," added Yadav.
