In an embarrassment for the country, the Indian tricolour was seen hoisted upside down during Power Minister Piyush Goyal’s meeting with his counterpart in Abu Dhabi last week.
Goyal travelled to Abu Dhabhi last week to attend a round-table conference of International Renewable Energy Agency on catalysing off grid renewable energy.
The photo of the event was shared by the Saudi Press Agency on micro-blogging site Twitter.
Goyal even tweeted that he held discussions with Energy Minister Khalid al-Falih on ways to deepen India-Saudi Arabia bilateral cooperation but he failed to notice the goof-up by the Saudi authorities.
This comes just days after External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj slammed US e-commerce giant Amazon for selling Indian flag-themed doormats.
In November 2015, on day one of the ASEAN summit in Malaysia, the Indian tricolour was seen hoisted upside down during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s photo op with Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe before bilateral talks. However, the error was rectified immediately after PM Modi noticed it.
