New Delhi: Just when it seemed that Subramanian Swamy would lie low following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'fondness for publicity’ snub, the Rajya Sabha MP has bounced back launching another salvo against economic affairs secretary Shaktikanta Das.

In a tweet today, Swamy once again targeted Das, alleging his involvement in a controversial land deal in Chennai.

The Rajya Sabha member, who had consistently attacked RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan and then took potshots at Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, was lying low after the BJP leadership indicated its unhappiness and Modi voiced disapproval of his conduct.

Ticking off Swamy, Modi had disapproved of his attacks on Raghuram Rajan calling them "inappropriate" and asserted the RBI Governor was "no less patriotic than us".

In an interview to a television channel, Modi described Swamy’s diatribe against outgoing Reserve Bank of India governor Raghuram Rajan and others as “inappropriate”.

“If anybody considers himself above the system, it is wrong. This fondness for publicity is never going to do any good to the nation,” Modi said when asked about comments by a “Rajya Sabha MP” against top officials. Swamy is a Rajya Sabha MP.

A couple of days after the PM interview, Swamy said that it is the publicity that seeks him and not other way around.

"New problem: when publicity relentlessly seeks a politician. 30 OVs outside the house, 200 missed calls from channels and paparazzis?" he tweeted.

The 76-year-old lawmaker slammed journalists as he accused them of planting false stories.

He also said that he stands by Modi as he admires his spine but took a dig at journalists planting "deliberately false stories" to provoke him.
