Taking strong exception to Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar’s statement on “surgical strikes”, senior Congress leader and former Defence Minister AK Antony today said that somebody must control him.
Manohar Parrikar claimed on Wednesday that no “surgical strike” had taken place in the past and that all such strikes were covert operations.
“Those actions can at best be called covert operations where action was taken first and the government informed later. But the September 29 strikes were a result of a government decision,” Parrikar had said.
Refuting Parrikar’s claims, Antony said, “He called surgical strike a burden and frustration of last 30 years…somebody must control him. I strongly object to his statement”.
Antony alleged that Parrikar insulted both the Army and the country with his irresponsible statement.
“I feel sad for what Parrikar said…he insulted Indian army and our country as well,” Antony said.
