Sonia Gandhi treated for shoulder injury, to be out of ICU soon

Doctors treated Congress President Sonia Gandhi for shoulder injury at Delhi’s Ganga Ram Hospital today.

Doctors treated Congress President Sonia Gandhi for shoulder injury at Delhi’s Ganga Ram Hospital today.

She is likely to be moved out of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) this evening, doctors said.

Renowned orthopaedic surgeon Dr Sanjay Desai flew down to Delhi from Mumbai for Sonia Gandhi’s treatment today.

 
He was joined by Dr Prateek Gupta from Sir Gangaram Hospital for treating Sonia Gandhi.

"Mrs Sonia Gandhi is making steady progress towards recovery from her illness. All her health parameters are showing improvement and she is soon going to be shifted out of the ICU,” a health bulletin issued by Sir Ganga Ram Hospital said.
 
“She has also successfully undergone treatment for a shoulder injury by an internationally acclaimed team of shoulder experts comprising of Dr Sanjay Desai from Mumbai and Dr Prateek Gupta from Sir Gangaram Hospital. She is recovering well," the health bulletin added.

The Congress party had yesterday said in a statement that Sonia Gandhi was taken ill on Wednesday at Varanasi during the last leg of her Varanasi tour.

According to the statement, Sonia Gandhi has said that she would return to Varanasi to meet the people and to have 'Darshan of the historical temple of ‘Kashi Vishwanath Ji'.

“On return, she was admitted to hospital in Delhi, is stable and is recovering under medical supervision. Congress President has said that she is overwhelmed by the concern and affection of fellow countrymen and crores of Congressmen and has thanked everyone for their good wishes,” the statement added.
