Union Textile Minister Smriti Irani will visit Siachen base camp on August 18 to celebrate “Raksha Bandhan” with jawans of Indian Army.
She will tie rakhi to soldiers who are bravely guarding Siachen border under hostile weather conditions.
In fact, the BJP leadership has asked all its women ministers and Members of Parliament to visit border areas and celebrate Raksha Bandhan on August 18 with soldiers by tying them ‘Rakhis’.
Minister of State for Health Anupriya Patel will visit the Jaisalmer border in Rajasthan on the occasion of “Raksha Bandhan”.
Similarly, Minister for Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi is expected to visit Punjab border on August 18.
Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj and Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti will also be visiting border areas at different locations on that day to celebrate “Raksha Bandhan” with Indian Army jawans.
Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of State for Commerce and Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, Minister of State in the Ministry of Food Processing Industries are also slated to meet soldiers posted on border on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
The initiative of Modi government is being seen as an attempt o reach out to the soldiers guarding India's borders.
