A case was today filed against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Congress leaders P Chidambaram and Sanjay Nirupam under sedition law for “seeking proof” of the September 28 surgical strikes carried out by Indian army across Line of Control.

One Jaganath Sah filed the case in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Ramchandra Prasad against Kejriwal, Chidambaram and Sanjay Nirupam.

The three leaders were alleged to have sought proof in support of the claim that the Indian Army had conducted the strikes across the LoC in PoK.

The court has fixed October 19 for hearing the matter. The complainant is president of a newly floated party "Aap aur Hum".

On Monday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal released a video message "saluting" Prime Minister over surgical strikes along the LoC and urging him to "unmask" Pakistan's propaganda by presenting evidence.

Yesterday, Mumbai Congress chief Sanjay Nirupam termed the surgical strikes on terror launch pads as “fake”.

"Every Indian wants surgical strikes against Pakistan but not a fake one to extract just political benefit by BJP. politics over national interest(sic)," Nirupam tweeted, kicking up a row over the emotive issue.

The Congress leader went on to demand "some evidence" to prove the surgical strikes did take place and accused the Centre's ruling BJP of indulging in politics over the issue.

Claiming that cross-border pre-emptive military actions took place during the UPA regime also, Congress MP P Chidambaram had said on Tuesday that there would be public demands for releasing the video footage of the recent surgical strikes carried across the Line of Control (LoC), as the Narendra Modi government had taken political ownership of the military action.

"Such cross-border pre-emptive actions have taken place in the past. At least one such strike has been confirmed by then Chief of Army staff Gen. Bikram singh in January 2013. There have been others, but I don't want to get into details,” Chidambaram had said.
