India TV has in its possession the resignation letter of former AAP minister Sandeep Kumar whom Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal claimed to have sacked within 30 minutes of receiving a video tape that allegedly showed him in a compromising position with two different ladies.
Sandeep Kumar's resignation letter contradicts Arvind Kejriwal's claims of sacking him.
According to the resignation letter, Sandeep Kumar resigned on August 31, immediately after the video tape surfaced in the media.
Sandeep Kumar starts the resignation letter with subject line "Resigning voluntarily".
"I have come to know that a conspiracy has been hatched against me. In order to ensure an impartial investigation in the matter, I hereby voluntarily resign from my post," Sandeep Kumar wrote in his resignation letter.
"Despite knowing the fact that I am being framed in this case, I'm resigning from my post to allow an impartial probe in this mater," he added.
The hand-written resignation letter is addressed to the chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Delhi Chief Minister on Wednesday announced his decision to sack Sandeep Kumar from his cabinet and claimed that he had taken this step within 30 minutes of receiving a video tape that allegedly showed the AAP minister in a compromising position with two different ladies.
Justifying his decision to sack Sandeep Kumar after the emergence of the controversial tape, the Delhi Chief Minister in a video message to AAP workers said on Thursday, “Yesterday, a CD came in which our cabinet minister was caught doing a wrong act. We have removed him immediately from the cabinet. After seeing it, I was very, very disappointed. I can understand all those volunteers who have sacrificed a lot for this movement. Sandeep has betrayed the entire movement. The biggest expectation today is AAP and Sandeep has betrayed that. We have removed him immediately from the cabinet. The party too will soon hold a meeting to take action against him.”
“I am sad that such people were once a part of our movement but on the other hand I am proud that we didn’t try to put a veil on such incidents like other parties,” he added.
Sandeep Kumar, however, denied all the allegations and said that he is being targeted for being a Dalit.
“I am from Valmiki community, that’s why this plot has been hatched against me,” He said.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Crime Branch has launched a probe into the alleged sex scandal involving Sandeep Kumar. The crime branch today interrogated three people in this regard including the complainant Om Prakash and Sandeep Kumar’s former campaign manager Lokendra Rana.
