Lucknow: Union Minister Ram Shankar Katheria on Saturday stirred a new row by hitting out at those who question saffronisation and added that there “will be saffronisation in education and in the country” and there is no problem in it as it is for the nation's benefit.

Speaking at a function at the Lucknow University, Minister of State for Human Resource and Development (HRD) Ram Shankar Katheria said, "Some people are saying why are we saffronising education, I am saying there will be saffronisation of education in the country. Whatever is good will definitely take place whether it’s saffronisation or 'sanghwad', if it's good for the country then it will definitely take place."

Addressing a function to celebrate 'Hindvi Swaraj Diwas Samaroh' marking the 342nd coronation year of Shivaji, Katheria said, “If we do not study the history of Maharana Pratap and Maharana Subhash ji, then will we study the history of Genghis Khan?” Katheria added that Maharana Pratap inspired Indian freedom fighters.

UP governor Ram Naik presided over the function and compared SP government's selection of ministers with that of Shivaji. "Relatives are favoured. But among the eight pradhans appointed by Shivaji, none were his relatives, unlike the son and nephew portfolios," Naik said.
