Former Indian cricketer-turned-commentator Ravi Shastri on Thursday congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party president Amit Shah for the BJP’s landslide victory in the recently concluded Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

In his tweet to PM Modi and Amit Shah, Shastri used his favourite phrase “like a tracer bullet” to describe BJP’s poll win.

“Congratulations @BJP4India on the landslide win in UP. The pair of PM @narendramodi & @AmitShah went past 300-mark like a #TracerBullet,” wrote Shastri in his tweet.

The tweet got a witty response from PM Modi who also used cricketing analogy to thank Ravi Shastri.

“Thank you. UP polls did not quite go down to the wire. But, at the end of the day democracy is indeed the real winner! :),” wrote PM Modi.

Amit Shah too was not far behind and came up with his own witty response in a similar language.

He wrote, “Thank you @RaviShastriOfc. Team BJP piled up 300+ on the back of many singles that our karyakartas and Modi government took along the way”.

Twitterati supporting the BJP were thrilled with the witty responses. Here are some of the reactions.

Shastri’s ‘Tracer Bullet’ has been so popular that BCCI had started a contest with all current India players trying to imitate their former Team Director taking the ‘Tracer Bullet Challenge’.
