Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad on Saturday said that if party vice-president Rahul Gandhi would have been allowed to speak in Parliament, the Prime Minister would have been "exposed".

"Well, he (Rahul Gandhi) was not given the opportunity as he wanted to say something on the floor of the House. Had he been given the opportunity to speak in the Parliament, he (Prime Minister) would have been exposed," the Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha told reporters.

Azad said that if there was nothing to hide, then why the government and the MPs of the ruling party did not allow Rahul Gandhi to speak.

"(It was) because they did not want him (Prime Minister) to be exposed (by Rahul Gandhi)," Azad said.

Rahul had said on Wednesday that he had information about “personal corruption” by Modi, who was “terrified” of the information, but he wasn’t being allowed by the government to speak about it in Parliament.

He gave no detail, and BJP dismissed the charge as “the biggest joke of the year”.

Rahul Gandhi yesterday termed the move to scrap old Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes a Modi-made disaster for the country.

"Demonetisation, which was meant to curb black money and root out corruption, is a Modi-made disaster, as over 100 people died standing in queues at banks for a few notes across the country," said Gandhi at a public meeting in Karnataka.

Reacting to his remark, the BJP said that Gandhi scion is yet to make 'earthquake' like revelations against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"I expected Rahul Gandhi to explode his earthquake statement in Belgaum, but I did not see any of it. Some of the Congress spokesperson were claiming on Friday that Rahul Gandhi will speak about it. What happened where is he going to explode that bomb?" BJP leader S. Prakash told ANI.
