Taking a break from politics, Congress vice-president will be taking a short vacation ahead of the Parliament Monsoon session set begin from July 12.
Rahul announced through a tweet today that he will be leaving abroad to visit his grandmother and spend some time with her.
“Will be travelling to meet my grandmother & family for a few days. Looking forward to spending some time with them,” he tweeted.
While he did not mention where is heading to and for how many days, he will probably be heading to Italy as his grandmother Paola Maino lives there.
In March this year, Rahul visited the US, where his mother and Congress president Sonia Gandhi had gone for a health check-up.
His latest foreign visit comes in the midst of hectic politics over the upcoming Presidential election and other developments like the nationwide crisis over farm loans.
Last week, Rahul was briefly detained by the Madhya Pradesh Police as he attempted to meet the families of the six protesters killed in police firing in Mandsaur.
With curfew imposed in several districts after farmers’ protests turned violent and local authorities denying entry of political groups into the violence-hit region, Rahul travelled by air, car, bike and foot to reach Mandsaur.
After being detained briefly, Rahul was allowed to meet the families of farmers at the MP border.
