New Delhi: Former Karnataka Governor Hansraj Bhardwaj today slammed his own party leader Rahul Gandhi saying the Congress vice-president has no heart although his father and former prime minister ‘Rajiv Gandhi was a very lovable person with a big heart.’

This is not the first time that Bhardwaj has criticised the Congress vice-president. On many occasions, he has questioned the leadership quality of the Gandhi scion. Just before the 2014 general elections, he had said that his party was too weak to fight BJP and that ‘Rahul was out of touch with the ground reality’.

Speaking to India TV, the septuagenarian leader revealed that the UPA-I government headed by Dr Manmohan Singh wanted to dissolve the Mulayam Singh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party government in Uttar Pradesh to which he had protested strongly.

This was, he said, in 2007 as the ruling coalition at the Centre was allegedly annoyed with the Samajwadi government's corruption.

He also said that the PIL filed on March 1, 2007 by advocate Vishwanath Chaturvedi seeking a CBI probe against Mulayam and family was done at the behest of the Congress leadership.

It was only then the Supreme Court had ordered a CBI inquiry into the alleged accumulation of disproportionate assets by Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam and his family.

Since his omission from the Union Cabinet in 2009, Bhardwaj has remained upset with the party and even blamed some senior leaders.

Bhardwaj further claimed that he was shifted out of Delhi, after UPA’s victory in 2009, and made Governor of Karnataka under some specific conspiracy to keep him away from the party leadership taking crucial decision.
