Raipur: Rahul Gandhi’s likely elevation as the Congress president does not seem to have the party speaking in one voice. Prominent leaders of the party are divided on the issue of Rahul’s promotion just yet.
In what may be perceived as signal of the scheme of things to come, Congress leader and former chief minister of Chhattisgarh Ajit Jogi today came down hard on the functioning of the Congress party in the state and even went on to say that the party was functioning as the BJP’s B-team.

Jogi said that he has been left with no choice but to quit the Congress to improve the state’s condition as the grand old party is presently working like ‘Team-B’ for Raman Singh-led state government. Jogi told reporters he is under a lot of pressure to revive the state as the present state government is not letting Chhattisgarh develop.
“I have been meeting a lot of people. As of now, I have personally met at least thousand supporters and they all have mounted pressure on me saying if we want to free Chhattisgarh from the rule of Raman Singh then I have to quit Congress, which is acting as the ‘B-Team’ for Raman Singh or otherwise he might win for the fourth time too,” said Jogi.
“So now, I think that if I have to win then there is only one way out that I have to lead a different political front. I would like to inculcate new and young faces in my party who would dedicatedly work for Chhattisgarh and help in ending the loot which is going on in the state,” he added.
The Congress Welfare Committee (CWC) is expected to meet this month and take the decision. With Rahul being elevated as the Congress president, AICC reshuffle has also been predicted on the cards.
