Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today said that the process of declaring the decisions taken by the Delhi Government in its one and a half years' tenure “null and void”  was "unfortunate".

Expressing his disappointment, Kejriwal said that one could understand its ramification as to how much problem the Delhi Government and the people of Delhi could face under these circumstances.

“Before the August 4 order of the Delhi High Court, the way the government was functioning, we believed that on some matters we don't need any approval from L-G , but he believed that it is required,” Kejriwal said.

He added that it was not proper to declare the government’s decision ‘illegal’ just because the files were not sent to the L-G.

"There were many files on which the approval of the LG was not taken, but there was no wrong intention behind it. It was a technical matter, which was in the court,” he said.

“It has been interpreted that those files should have been sent to LG shaab, but only because the files were not sent to LG shaab, if the decisions taken by the Delhi Government in the past one and a half years were declared null and void, you can understand its ramification as to how much problem the Delhi Government and the people of Delhi can face and that process is going on right now which is very unfortunate," Kejriwal added.

Meanwhile, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najib Jung on Friday referred the matter related to Delhi Waqf Board to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for investigation and declared the reconstitution of Delhi Waqf Board and appointment of CEO as "illegal and void ab initio".
