Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair first high level all party meet today on Kashmir situation at Parliament.

The meeting has been called to evolve consensus among the nation on ways and means to deal with ongoing unrest in Kashmir that entered 35th day today.

Valley has been witnessing disturbances after the death of Hizbul terrorist Burhan Wani and clashed have so far claimed more than 50 lives, while more than 3000 civilians have been injured.

The meeting will be an opportunity for the parties to discuss all the aspects of the problem candidly and suggest viable solutions.

On Wednesday, the announcement was made on the floor of the House by Home Minister Rajnath Singh. The Upper House had also adopted an unanimous resolution on the matter.

The House expressed its serious concern over the prolonged turbulence, violence and curfew in the Kashmir valley. Resolution said that there can be no compromise on national security.

Government has made it clear that it is ready for talks with political parties and other groups in Kashmir.

Earlier Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that few people with vested interests are fomenting trouble in Kashmir and declared his intention to further the adoption of former prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee's model of ‘Insaniyat, Jhambhoosiryat and Kashmiriyatr’, essentially meaning that govt will focus on three pronged strategy on humanity, democracy and spirit of Kashmir to find a solution.
