New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and visiting Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena will today visit the Simhasta Mahakumbh in Ujjain.

Modi told Sirisena that his visit for the Simhastha Kumbh was very significant as it showed the deep civilisational ties between the two countries.

As part of month-long Simhastha festival, which began on April 22, being held in Ujjain, a three-day spiritual Kumbh will be conducted between May 12 and 14 during which leaders of various faiths and from across the world will deliberate on various measures of people's welfare, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan informed.

The Prime Minister will be attending the closing ceremony of the spiritual Kumbh, he said. 

Simhastha, a bathing festival celebrated once in twelve years, is being held in Ujjain from April 22. It will conclude on May 21. Lakhs of people are expected to take bath in Kshipra river in Ujjain during this month-long religious event.
