Prime Minister Narendra Modi today greeted Congress president Sonia Gandhi on her 70th birthday.
“Birthday wishes to Smt. Sonia Gandhi. May Almighty bless her with a long life filled with good health,” PM Modi tweeted.
Sonia Gandhi was born on this day in 1946.
The Prime Minister’s birthday wishes to Gandhi came even as her party continues to mount an intense attack on him over demonetisation.
On Thursday, Sonia Gandhi’s son and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi had accused Prime Minister of banning high-denomination notes to benefit a few digital wallets like Paytm.
“The idea behind a cashless economy is that a few people must get maximum benefits from these (cashless) transactions, this has damaged the nation,” Rahul Gandhi said.
Accusing PM Modi of having a nexus with corporates, Rahul Gandhi described Paytm, a leading digital platform for cashless transactions, as “Pay to Modi”.
“If they let me speak in the Lok Sabha I will expose this nexus. How PayTM is actually ‘Pay to Modi’,” he said.
