BJP leader and Union Minister Smriti Irani on Tuesday said Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi’s attacks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Berkeley was a failed strategy.
"Passing remarks on Prime Minister Modi is not new for Rahul Gandhi," said Smriti Irani while addressing a press conference in BJP's reaction on Rahul Gandhi's address at Berkeley on Tuesday.
"However, Rahul Gandhi must not forget that the nation has put its faith in our Prime Minister," she said.
She also said: "To say that Congress became arrogant under Sonia Gandhi and hence lost election is a big political confession in itself."
Earlier on the day Rahul Gandhi had criticised PM Modi 's economic policies, accusing him of causing "tremendous damage" to India's economy with "reckless and dangerous" decisions like demonetisation and "hastily-applied" GST.
He said the November 8 demonetisation decision was taken without asking the Chief Economic Advisor and Parliament, which caused tremendous damage to the economy. Demonetisation, he alleged, imposed a devastating cost on India.
Excerpts from BJP's press conference on Rahul Gandhi's statements at Berkeley:
# A failed dynast today chose to speak about his failed political journeys in USA.
# The fact that Mr. Gandhi chose to belittle the PM is not surprising in fact expected.
# Our PM hails from a poor family and has struggled to achieve this position, through commitment and honesty.
# After failing to connect with people of India Mr Gandhi chooses platform of convenience for berating his political opponents.
# Fact that he (Rahul Gandhi) says that dynasts & dynasties is the very fulcrum of India in itself is an anomaly.
# Passing remarks on Prime Minister Modi is not new for Rahul Gandhi.
# Rahul Gandhi must not forget that the nation has put its faith in our Prime Minister.
# To say that Congress became arrogant under Sonia Gandhi and hence lost election is a big political confession in itself."
