New Delhi: It may not be a testament but does lend some amount of credence to the perception that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mantra of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ may have begun to deliver. In a fresh development, an Aligarh-based Muslim group, Forum for Muslim Studies and Analysis, has announced a scholarship in the name of the Prime Minister.
The group said that it will award the scholarship to economically backward Muslim students who are in Class XII or pursuing bachelor’s degree course.
Explaining why the scholarship was named after Narendra Modi, organisation’s director Jasim Mohammad said that the Prime Minister is genuinely concerned about the problems the minority community faces and he is working for the betterment of country.
“I instituted the scholarship to help empower students from the minority community. Once empowered, these students will make our country proud,” he told The Hindu.
10 scholarships of Rs 5,000 each will be given this year from August 2016, he said.
Notably, Jasim is also credited with writing the Prime Minister’s first Urdu biography, Narendrabhai Modi - Farsh Se Arsh Tak (Narendrabhai Modi - From the ground to the sky). From next year, the number of scholarships as well as the amount will be increased, he said.
