The law and order condition in Bihar has left chief minister Nitish Kumar worried so much that he could not resist pulling Bihar's Director General of Police Gupteshwar Pandey. On Thursday, Nitish highlighted how newspapers on first, second page or city were filled with crime or accident stories.

The Bihar chief minister then went on to give some media tips to his top officers in Bihar Police. Naming Gupteshwar Pandey, the current Director General of Police in Bihar, Nitish said, "Aaj DGP saheb ka bhashan suna, bada badiya tha. Lekin joh bhashan dey rahe usmey khoob publicity milega lekin jab kaam mey kami ayegi toh panch mahina ke baad dhwast kar dega. (Today I heard DGP's speech. Media will give lot of publicity to it but the same media will destroy you in next five months if your work drops)."

Nitish went on to elaborate on his advice. "Agar media front page par apko laya to pucca janiye andar jane waley hain (IF media gives you a front page coverage, then your exit is almost certain," Nitish said to the huge round of applause from the audience, many of whom were top bureaucrats and police officers.

"If you did not do what you are saying today then the same media will criticise you and your failures will be printed on the first page." The Chief Minister also emphasised on the maintenance of law and order in the state. "If law and order is not maintained in the state, the government's image gets affected. It is the responsibility of the police to keep the law system in order."
