'My wife protected Jayalalithaa for 30 years, why can’t my family join politics'

Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalthaa’s close companion and AIADMK general secretary Sasikala’s husband M Natarajan has asserted that there is nothing wrong in his family getting involved in politics.

Natarajan pointed out that his wife Sasikala protected Jayalalithaa for 30 years. He also added that it was his family which made Jayalalthaa the Chief Minister of Tamil and therefore, there was nothing immoral if his family members are involved in politics.

"My wife Sasikala was protecting Jayalalithaa for 30 years. When she was denied permission to see MGR's body, we took her to the funeral. When she was pushed down from the funeral vehicle of MGR, our family members stood in support of her and all through her life. Brahmins were opposing Jayalalithaa to become CM. We only made her CM. So, there is nothing immoral if our family members are involved in politics," M Natarajan told media persons on the final day of Tamizhar Kalai Ilakkiya Pongal festival in Trichy.

Natarajan also said that there was no need to change the present Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu as Panneerselvam was doing a good job.

"O Panneerselvam is running the government in a professional and smooth manner. At present, there is no need for a change in the leadership of the government. If such a situation arises, the MLAs and the party functionaries will decide," he said.

Natarajan, however, alleged that the BJP was conspiring to split the AIADMK and dissolve the government in Tamil Nadu.

He also accused S Gurumurthy, co-convenor of RSS-affiliated Swadeshi Jagaran Manch, of  spearheading the conspiracy of Brahmins against Dravidians in the state.

"Auditor Gurumurthy is spearheading the conspiracy of Brahmins against Dravidians. I'm not accusing all brahmins of conspiracy but 10% of them are plotting to saffronize the state," he said.

Natarajan was all praise for Prime Minister Narendra Modi but alleged that he was being misled by people close to him.

"Modi is a good man and we are supporting him. But people around him are misleading him," Natarajan said.
